Journal Merie's Aug. 26 Carman - just adorable. We gave Joe 100 pesos and for the kids 50 pesos apiece plus another 50 for the Alvarez. I got a group picture and we said goodbye. It seemed quite wet too, We then drove up to the microwave towers on the road south from Los Vegas. At the top we collected in two places. The first was the old locality just short of the station. Here we got: 1 Pseudoenydra depressa (mostly under logs, reddish speckled), 1 P. nolenonidae (in a roadbank, yellow days spots), and 2 Chiroptotriton (in rotten logs). It was frustrating to get so few Chirope, and we went on to the microwave station and worked the SW facing slopes just beyond. Here in rotten logs we found 14 Chirope, 2 P. depressa, and 1 snake (probably Drydus). Great Chirope - excitment! Tomorrow we plan to explore this canyon which we started down, as well as another we found interesting. We'll see how far down the Chirope go. Exploration of "our crack"! Exploration of new areas is badly needed!!
