Journal Aug. 25 and no very large. All were found under logs out in the open grassy pastures. It was quite damp under these logs. The logs had been in place for quite a while ie. no grass under them. We also got four snakes - dark and small (about Drosophilic sized). Dan thinks they're Drosophis, but I'm doubtful. We walked this area in very early afternoon and it was very hot. I wasn't feeling well and I later locked the logs in the car. Luckily we opened the car in about 15 minutes because the snake situation was down a little. We drove to Jalapa and got a room at the Hotel Delmaros for ~$8.00 (700 pesos). It is "faded glory" in Dan's words. Jalapa is wonderful. We walked around the streets after a great dinner near the Delmaros. They are having an art festival, selling used books on the street, just mucho, mucho activity. It is a university town, so many younger people. Many attractive women! It gives me the impression of a liberal modern people living in an old and beautiful city. Very European.
