Darda, D. 1981 Journal Mexico Oct. 28 to Durango to try the sinkholes again for moauri. Oct. 29 Up at ~6:30 A., and ate breakfast in Tamazunchale. We drove south on Hwy. 85 and reached Durango at ~11:30 A. We split up. Jim and Don went to explore the sinkholes we had located on the 27th. They entered the reflect (#1, Oct. 27). Don went down using the rope. It was a rather different climb. They got no animals although moauri was hoped for. They decided that sinkholes 2 & 3 were too dangerous to enter. Meanwhile, DBW and I worked forested area just south of Durango. There was little in the way of cover to turn. Most wood must be gathered by the local people. I found one Pseudoeurycea belli under a rock. It was small and had spots on the back of the head. Locality: Along Mex. Hwy 85, 1.3 km. SW Durango, Hidalgo, Mexico, 2130 m. We also drove along 85 north of town and were shown four sinkholes about 2 km. north of Durango. A very friendly local man showed us these. I entered two and found them to be light and fairly dry.
