32-4 Ks 1956 Journal 11:15 14 Spotted Towhee giving series of rapid shrill notes at N.W. corner and S.W. corner Library. Song Sparrow singing at E. corner Durant Hall. Song just once.. 1110 Song Sparrow, Mr. Oregon Junco, Brown Towhee across street from SE corner Wheeler Hall. Very secretive. Along high bank of stream. Fresh looking Warbler hole top of dead tree just W. of platform to power plant, S. of Wheeler Hall. Hummingbird (Anna's) sitting in top of small tree at S side Durant Hall, sat for several minutes occasionally flying out + returning flycatcher style. Black throat + chin, greenish back, 3" Song like Anna's hummingbird heard previously (Several days ago). High, raspy squeak; fairly loud considering size of bird. Flew about 50 ft away, returned very quickly + violently. Flew into shrubbery SW corner Wheeler Hall for about 1/2 min., returned to perch. About 10 minutes later it flew to height of 50 +/- ft., zoomed down so fast I could not follow. It repeated this for a total of 4 times. Each time there was a loud sound as it reached the bottom of its fall (I guess). The last time it fed on red Caytonia blossoms for about a minute, then disappeared W end Wheeler Hall. 1140.
