Journal 13 Feb 56 09:00 Flush of about 30 each Robin and Cicada Warbling feeding on Cotoneaster opp. Ellernth St along ath Field. One Red Shafted Flicker in tree. White Crown Sparrow flushed as I walked by gave sharp "peent" note. In a few minutes White Crown sang feebly. A little farther up another White Crown feeding in grass. Gave sharp notes marked a bit, (not sang). Another close by chipped several times. Just north of drive into ath Field, another pair of White Crows. Flush of White Crows apparently mostly immature, feeding by entrance to Men's Gym. Outside LSB, W side, Spotted Towhee giving odd song. A short series rapid, of soft chips, lasting about 1 second. 09:30 On Fulton just east of Alberton Way by ticket office. Pair White Crowned Sparrows feeding in grass w/ Brown Towhee pair. Not much nearby cover around. Fox Sparrow along stream W of LSB. Dutton's Vireo in tree nearby, giving note that rose and fell abruptly. A A /\ Sort of a whistled chip.
