Banks 1956 Journal 11. 4. 11 Feb 56 Across from Epis. Church by 8th. Field 2pm White Wormed Sparrows, very close P.M. Contra Costa Co Saw movement in weeds, saw gopher (assumed) pulling down dead stalk of a perennial herb. Bottom of stalk eaten off clearly, atangle. Set 5 traps. Collected: Alnus rhombifolia Plant 1 Salix 2 Ribes sanguineum 3 Sanicula marziessii 4 After about 2 hours, while we were collecting plants, caught 2 Thomomys cottae (gopher) in one of the traps. (see above) Found feathers when bird was killed. Varied Thrush? 12 Feb 56 Permitted area of ecology field trip in Wilden Park. Reworked Sage, Grassland, and Broad Sclerophyll forest. Collected 1 small frog _ " Ribes Plant 5 " Umbellularia californica " 6 Picked apart for scat and found some mouse bones, etc. lower jaw.
