Banks (1957) Melospiza melodia 35. 22 May 1957 Stream Web LSB Found nest with 34 eggs. Call it Q.(S) Same territory as R, S, V, Y. 23 May 1957 St of Naval Research Tho I looked in the area where I saw & flushed the bird yesterday, I could find no nest. Today, not even any adult birds around. 24 May Stream WLSB, Nest Q(S) Flushed bird from nest. Still 3 eggs. 25 May No change at 0625. Eggs in same position. 31 May No change today at 1715. 1 June At 0800, one young and 2 eggs. The young is not dry yet - all the down is matted. However, a series of slightly dark spots is evident along back. Marked this bird R-1. 1920 R-1 2.4 gm. Lies on side. Spots evident on crown & length of back. Handful dark streak. Vomers spotted. Ventral tract looks like row of transparent stitches. R-3 2.3 gm. Same as R-1. still (egg)
