Banks 1457 Meloziza melodia 32. 7 May. Steam W of LST3 In same territory as Y and V, A. Giovini has found 2 more nests - one deserted with 4 eggs, and one empty on which the 4 was when he showed me. He saw the bird building, call the second one first one S, the second P. W of Naval Research, Nest I 1845 R-1 4.3 gm, R-3 2.8+ gm, On R-1, outer 4 Prim, show tiny spics, out central tract dark, a few light spots on thigh. R-3, humerus shows a few spots; dark on hand, spots on head black only. L-1 4.1 gm both same as R-1 L-3 4.7+ gm 5 of Naval Research, Nest II 1855 L-3 12.5 gm, 8th Prim, 7mm. Very active in nest. Eyes open. Some posterior ventral feathers about to break sheaths. Most all sheaths out of skin on all tracts. R-3 11.7 gm. 8th Prim, 6 mm. Same as L-3. Eyes open L-1 7.6 gm. 8th Prim, 3.5 mm. No thigh sheaths out, nor crown sheaths except very near (occipital). No feathers show signs of coming thru. Eyes open. R-1 11.6+ gm. 8+4 Prim, 7mm. A few current post. feathers actually lovely out. Otherwise same as L-3, R-3. Eyes ope.
