Banks 1957 Melopsitta melodia 29 5 May 5 of Naval Research, Nest 4 0640 L-3 5.1 gm. Primaries & secondaries show as buds, not quite out of skin. Grow well spotted beneath skin. Back neck, humerus, wing, + flaky very dark, also upper abdominal tract. Thigh spotted. Eyes not open. L-1 3.1 gm. Seems much smaller. Very much same as L-3, but no marks on thigh, fewer on crown. Squeals in my hand. R-1 5.3 gm. Primaries are out a little, otherwise same as L-3 but whole aspect darker, down much thicker. R-3 4.7 gm. Same as L-3. W of Naval Research, Nest T No change at 0700. 5 of Naval Research, Nest 4 1900 R-1 7.2 gm. 8th Prim. 1 mm. Primaries & secondaries are only feather sheaths thrusting; all areas very dark. Faint squealing. Very active on balance. R-3 6.7 gm. 8th Prim. 1 mm. Same as R-1 L-1 4.3 gm. 8th Prim. <1 mm. Inner secondaries not quite out. Squeaked & squeal. L-3 7.1 gm. 8th Prim. 1 mm. Same as R-1 & R-3, less dark on ant. nutrit tract. Post. ventral tract not darker than any. Much less down all birds gaped as soon as I touched nest.
