Melospiza melodia 28 April 3 Men's Fox Club, Vest H L-1 5.8 gm, 8-14 Prim, 1.5 mm. All primaries + secondaries out, but no other feathers. Eyes open a slit. 1855 L-1 7.5 gm, 8-14 Prim, 2.5 mm No change from this morning except alula is out. P-1 11.4 gm, 8-16th Prim, 7 mm. All tracts show sheaths out of skin. 29 April 0655 P-1 11.35 gm, 8-19 prim, 9 mm. Sheaths of rectrices thru skin. No feathers out of sheath. Holds head ups, L-1 7.6 gm, 8-14 Prim, 4-mm Sheaths on all tracts except head and tail are at least a little out of skin. Except thigh feathers not out. 1850 L-1 9.8 gm, 8-24th Prim 5 mm Thigh crown, + tail sheaths still not out... Keeps head off my hand part time, if only slightly. Active in hand, P-1 13.7 gm, 8-18th Prim 11 mm. Many central feathers on both parts of tract, a few back, humeral, and 1 outer sec covert not coming are out. Also a good no. of flank feathers out. Rectrices sheaths to 2 mm Both birds crouched when I went to nest. 30 April 0715 L-1 9.1 gm, 8-24th Prim, 7 mm. All tracts except tail have sheaths there. No feathers thru sheaths. Head rests on my hand.
