Banks (95) Melospiza melodia 13, 8 april Bridge E of Men's Fac. Club. Heard a singing bird. Another bird flew in to brush along S side of stream with much twittering, which turned to alarm notes. This one had grass (?) in bill, crosswise. Flew around, hopped on stones, carried on quite a delaying action. Finally flew into ring on N bank of stream on E side of bridge, near a very slender thing like brush. Flew back to brush on S side creek - then off toward S, Men's Hall. Returned with another load a few minutes later - went thru the same procedure. Nest is here on N bank. S of Naval Research Bldg. Nest X Watched birds carrying food for about 45 mi. Went all around but not to nest. & Once or went to it, but I couldn't find it. Finally found it at 9930. It is by stumps, in Palms. Eggs are several days old, 1830hrs. Pt 15.5 gm. Prim. 15 mm. Ventral flank feathers out of sheath as are most on humerus. Some secondary coverts + many lack feathers out. Gave protest notes. Plain 14.8 gm. 15mm Prim. All last 1st & last prim. out of sheath anee kit Humerus, short lack, a post flesh, most ventral feathers out. All greater secondary coverts out. Left 12.0 gm. Prim 12 mm. Flew back, most ventral, some flank feathers out. Worming feathers out. Definitely behind others.
