Melospiza melodia
30 Apr. Stream NLSB, Nest 7 - This nest destroyed when I looked at 0725. Adults not around,
so I assume it was destroyed Sat. or Sun.
Nest is pretty well torn up.
7 May Bridge E. of Union - Pair of birds
chipping and giving alarm notes similar
to those given when nest is butchered.
Around some white-barked Acer, in dense
Berberis, S. side of bridge.
Near Men's Fae Club - No birds in
evidence in this area this morn.
Aside Men's Fae Club - Heard a bird
sing twice, saw one descend to ground
from Berberis. It was the bird with
the broken tail. It went across walk from
stream side to area in front of building.
8 May Watched the birds for nearly 3/4 hour
this mornig. Finally flushed 2 just
a few feet in the honeysuckle, opp. the
corner of the building. Could not find
nest but expect to soon.
11 May Could not flush bird from the area
where I thought nest was located. Both
birds were in sight when I first
arrived, and on second visit. On third
visit 2 was singing downstream,
but I didn't flush it
12 May After an hour of watching looking
I finally found nest about a foot off
ground in honeysuckle (Lonicera).
It contains 5 eggs. This is Nest W.
