Banka, Pa., 1956 22. Song Sparrow 28 Mar S End of field W of Heart Gym - heard a bird sing at SW corner of field. Another pair & feeding in shade along ledge along S side of field. Went full length of field, seldom left shade, which forms strips about 3' wide. On other end, SW corner, she got into sun some; where shade petered out. Only feeding, no sign of gathering material. 29 Mar NW Corner Cafeteria - & Bird in low bushes inside hedge (by old eldg.) flew in from W side Cafeteria, sat in top of 5' bush. I joined him in another part of bush. Both descended to ground, then & flew NE to large tree, chipped constantly. I remained in bush here, also chipping. After 5 I min., he flew away to W side Cafeteria. In a couple more minutes & returned, still chipping. Hopped around under & on small bushes, not feeding or anything, just giving alarm note. I would. & flew to poster of old eldg. & returned to top of bush, sang 5 times, flew toward W exit, & moved while I watched &. I approached bush & squatted, she flew from top of bush. & returned to a bush close to her, moved to tall bush, sang once. & moved close to him. Butt moved. He went back to singing bush, sang 5 times. & on ground giving soft chips, not alarm, just little 'tick's. I often flies from her favorite bush, which is covered with dead grassy material, a little ways WSW, toward &'s singing bush.
