Banho, R.C. 1956 Song Sparrow 19. 27 Mar. NW Women's Fac Club - 2 birds by N side of bldg. Late one by corner of lawn feeding in tree about 15 ft up. Then S. soon another, or sparrow flying from on a near ground, into tree. This bird fed 20-25 feet up in Umbelliferae. Could detect no sign of nesting activity. 27 Mar. Bridge S.D. of LSB - One singing bird on either side of bridge. S.W. corner library - Bird singing here for several minutes. Finally flew to NE corner Durant Hall. Sang from at least 2 spots along Durant Hall. Dropped to ground once, momentarily. Could not find his mate Creek E of Union, just N of bridge. - One bird singing, another feeding in Periwinkle on ground. She would jump on a tall stalk & weight it down. Bird in tree gleaning leaves at end of branch. Both evidently getting insects. After while he became silent, both disappeared. Lmontt fields S of creek, one bird feeding in grass Sean Men's Fac Club - One bird feeding along walk along Sr. Men's Hall. When disturbed flew to trees overhanging stream, sang several weak, incomplete songs. Went to clump of seedlings by small Sequoia fed on ground by Sr. Men's Hall, moved to corner of Fac Club bay bridge right along bldg. With a weak song flew back along along Sr. Men. Possibly another bird between walk and stream.
