Boughts, D.C. 19/5-6 Song Sparrow 18. 20 Mar. NE Corner Warrant Hall - Bird singing in shrubbery near street corner here. Flew to SW corner library, continued singing. May have been joined by bird from NW corner Wheels Hall. Across Barrow Lane from SE corner Adam Plof. Song Sparrow bit in tree occupied by pair of White Cornus. Chased. Flew to tree NE by SW corner Adam Plof. NE Side Men's Fox Club - Pair in heavy bush. One left. The other fed off bushes for quite a while finally worked itself away from me to W. Near Men's Fox Club - Bird singing as usual near N-S bridge. Can never find another bird here, so believe he is unmated. NW Women's Health Club - Bird flew from patch of lilies. Later a bird feeding around edge of lawn, singing weakly occasionally (2 or 3 times) another bird. Then two birds feeding in tree. 21 Mar. Diana St. end, bridge WS of LS73 Pair of birds feeding on bare ground and low plants. First seen W. of bridge, crossed road and fed on E. side of bridge also. No courtship or mating behavior. Near Men's Faculty Club - Seems like the old boy finally got himself a mate. Two birds very close just N of N-S bridge. Seemed very affectionate. We flew over bridge to his usual perch, sang several times weakly at first, then strong. Also sang from N side of creek which is unusual. However, the other bird stayed & fed fairly high in the tree, and I lost track of her.
