Banks P.C. 1956 Song Sparrow 16. 16 Mar. Esklman Road S. Esklman Hall, - Song Sparrow sang here, Near Men's Fac Club. - Bird singing E. of bridge. Became very alarmed when I squeaked, but could not find a &. 3 resumed singing in a few minutes. S. Chem Bldg. at creek bend. Pair of song sparrows. One picked up nesting material, went toward clump of iris. Nest seen in bushes above iris with material. 3 not singing. 5 minutes, both moved to bushes at edge of lawn NW corner Women's Fac Club. Green, Uncle Man's Fac. Club - NW Corner - Pair song sparrows here, frantically feeding in heavy brush- honeysuckle, ivy, acacia etc. First noticed when in a flying chase. May be gathering nest material. This is S. of creek, N. of Hall by Fac. Club. Opp. bldg. corner is a trail to stream. I am on it, birds are 10 ft. W. One spot near very heavily covered with droppings. All was quiet for a while, squeaked. One bird came to dead(?) shock, not quickly. (I have moved & am sitting in rock in stream. It sat there about a minute, went back toward base of Bakery) NE Corner Calif Hall - Bird singing in live oak, high in tree, at edge of patch of low Junipers. Barnardt, N.
