Brinks P.C. 1956 Song Sparrow. 8, 27 Feb. Rear (E) of Fac. Bldg. 2 Song Sparrows singing, one East and West of a N-S walk. Alternated, songs very similar. One night along S wall Fac. Bldg. Other, further E., along stream. Ell, E side Physics Bldg. Heard bridging twit, couldn't find him. S. ALSB, by Parking Lot - singing bird. 29 Feb. S. of ALSB, by Parking Lot. - Bird singing near top of small bare tree. First two notes in song gave ventriloquial effect. E. of Grounds + Bldgs., Det. Bldg. - a singing bird on top of hedge here. 2 March. S E Corner LSB. - Song sparrow singing at corner of parking lot, flew to other corner of lot, sang again. Flew about halfway on W side Brunelle Hall, lit on ground. (from NW - NE corner parking lot). When I approached him he returned to tree in middle N side of parking lot, sang some more (.3 times). No sign of mate, not much cover in area. Sang from tree by walk. E. E side Wherry Hall Two singing birds. One was about 1/3 of way N from S E corner, other at N.E. corner. Sang alternately. Gradually approached each other at center of bldg. No fight. Both retreated, but corner bird gave more ground, came back to corner, sang violently. Bird also stayed in center, sang little weakly, and from ground. Wall bird fed on ground.
