Banks, R.C. 1956 Song Sparrow 6. 27 Feb. E of Union, tail to Dec. Art - A singing linch in plum tree & of path. First 5 notes same, but 4r s faster. Flew into low shrubs about 6 ft. away. Permeed singing (new song) about 10 yds S & along path to cafeteria. Flew 20 yds farther along path sang in low Sequoia. Moved right in tree (lumen?) sang, but not frequently. 17 sec. 15 sec. 25 sec. 25 sec. These are times between ends of songs. Moved farther S &. into last tree in that line, continued singing. Flew NW again into Mescas. Hard to see in end trees for about 5 min. Changed song, sang first one again. Sang second song down about second perch Only 2 minutes or so passed between this change. Flew into brushes where I saw a bird. 17 Feb. Continued singing. Quit singing and I lost him. Saw again (2nd + data?) across stream, close to E side Union. A dog walked by there, flushed several birds, My bird? Flew from shrubs to ground. Next singing. I moved around there. Both of Oneun finches feeding on 1 slice white bread. Song sparrow singing to E, could not tell which side of stream. Flock of Varied Thrushes moving in. I walked down along stream, heard Song Sparrow singing in first perch. Still singing when I left.
