Giving peculiar chipping note. A pair, or
both fanned tail broadly.
Corner Les Rd + Wickson, UC Campus
Singing bird in patch of ferns, N.W. corner.
Flew east toward another singing song
sparrow returned shortly. Another
Footbridge (concrete) to Les Rd N of Wickson
a singing bird here, about 50 ft upstream
from road-bridge.

Pt. of birds.
S & corner LSB, campus.
One bird feeding in grass along bldg.
Corner Univ Dr + Wickson
A singing bird. The same or another bird
just Wd along stream. Possibly two
birds singing opp N.E. door LSB just to
the south west. Neither sang often. May
be 2 birds or 1 bird with 2 songs.
Path going N from Wickson, E side of creek
a singing bird. Played in bushes just
east of creek. Crossed creek, went N. 20
yds, sang again later near path, near
concrete footbridge. Song had a raspy
quality -1-2-3-4-5----- Occasionally
left just 3-5 notes off song. See map,
pg 4 of journal.
10 Feb. Along athletic field on Bancroft St. East
when 2 white thrush flew into bushes, song
sparrow flew to cyclone fence atop cement
wall, sang loudly. Later flew to
Unitarian Church yard, landed in large
tree, sang once.
