Banka 1957 Zonotrichia l. metalli 4 June Corner Oxford Center, Nest R(w) 1905 L-1 19.7 gm. 8+9 Prim. 22 mm. Began to chip as soon as I touched it. Others were quiet. Both adults & this young made great fuss w/ alarm notes. Primary sheaths not quite covered by extended part of 3pc's. Headstripe shows well. Ventral coverts not quite covered. One adult picked at my hand while covering nest & operate others from leaves. R-3 21.0 gm. 8+9 Prim. 21 mm. As above, Crown stripe not as visible, primary sheaths a little more covered. Not much difference, L-3 17.6 gm. 8+9 Prim. 20 mm. Head stripe less developed & prim. sheaths less covered than either above. Breast streaking shows well on all of them. Did not see or get R-1. Barque Lane, Nest S(w) 935 R-1 5.1 gm. Dark on flank & on thigh. Back, crown, hand & abula leading edge. Ventral tract (upper part) a little darkened. Primaries budding. R-3 5.4 gm. Spots in same areas, but not as plain - appear to be deeper under skin. Primaries just budded as much. Quill & Durant Nest T (S) No change at 2000. Definitely incubating.
