Zonotrichia l. nuttallii 22 April Bancroft West J R-3 [19.5 gm] Prim. 21 Crown stripe shows pretty well, all primaries & coverts out, coverts not far. Banded # 24- 180308 on right, black band on left. L-3 [18.0 gm], Prim. Crown stripe evident, Prim. coverts almost over primary sheaths. Banded 24- 180309 on left leg, black band on rt. Put R-1 back in nest, but left R-3 & L-3 out, on ground together. As I took one of them from nest, it gave loud protest notes & clutched nest. Parents came very close, and chipped exitedly, and other bird jumped out. Both jumped off balance & out of my hand repeatedly. Spotting down slow zone, Inside Edwards Field West G 0630 R-4 Crown stripe beginning to show well. All primaries well out, sheaths almost covered by prim. coverts. Anterior part of head still in sheath. [17.1 gm], Prim. Banded # 24- 180310 on right leg, white band on left leg. R-1 [14.1] Condition same as R-4, primaries not as well covered by coverts. # 24-180311 left leg, white band rt. leg. R-3 [14.3 gm], Prim. 22 mm.
