Bands 1957 Zosterops l. mittlei 18 2 April Greenhouse Area, Nest B Weight at 1820 - 6.5 gm. Primary feathers are out about, 5mm. - just barely thru skin. 3 April. Considerable change noticeable even now at 0620. Weight 6.3gm. Gaped and stretched away up, but still fell over backward in my hand. Stretched out on balance, no gaping. The squeak is still just barely a squeak, and I must hold it close to my ear to hear it. Primaries are out 1mm. now, and the first line of primary coverts are out a little (maybe 1/2 mm.). All wing feathers are started out, no more than 1/2 mm. (Not all - first line in each area - Primaries, P.coverts, secondaries, Tertiaries.) No others out of skin but plainly visible and about to start out. The bird did not gape until I touched it today, but I did not use mirror today. Did not gape when I returned it to nest.
