Zonotrichia leucophrys nuttalli 16 April 1st Bancroft along 4th, Field Vart A No change 0615 Greenhouse Area - Vert B Weighed the one bird at 0630. Weight 3.2 gm. I don't know whether to trust these scales. (MVZ) The other egg has not hatched. The bird is covered with grey down - not completely covered, but on the head/tupper part of back. There are black spots showing through the skin on the head and spinal region. The bird was gaping when I first spotted it in the mirror, and as I replaced it and held the mirror again it gaped. I do not think I was disturbing any- things but the branches above and around the nest - not the nest itself. Its eyes are not open but there is a small slit. Inside NW corner Edwards Field There is a bird singing on the wall. There is no activity in the assumed nest region. I shall once again try to locate this nest, - No luck. It must be along the top of the wall and I cannot get to it. There is a bird in this clump. Tennis courts inside Edwards Field. In geraniums along end of courts, was a singing bird. There was some disturbance when I began to look in geraniums. Now there is a Gambel sparrow singing from that fence and other Gambels around. Check again. Bancroft along 4th Field, Lower Sec, Vart C. Today there are 5 eggs.
