Zonotrichia leucophrys 28 Mar. S.W. corner Edwards Field Group of 4 Arborvitae tree. A White Crowned Sparrow singing from one. 2 Birds chipping in alarm as I moved around trees. Found nothing, but convinced myself they are nesting in one of the trees. This would probably be same pair seen "Lower Sec." of ath Field, Barnyard along ath Field, Lower Sec. Above maybe different bird or false alarm. Still 2 pairs of birds in this strip - one near upper end and a little below center. Upper pair probably was from Nest C, which I didn't check today. Center Sec. Nest D No change. No adults here today, but a pair a little further up. 28 March S.W. corner Ellsworth + Durant Looked where 2 days ago bird was carrying nesting material. Only nest there is an old one. I see no birds around. Will drop E as a designation. 7:00 AM Barnyard along Athletic Field/Center Sec, Nest D No change. This nest measures 7'3" above the ground. 7:10 A.M. Same Upper Sec, Nest A. No change 7:15 AM. Greenhouse Area Nest B No change. Height of this nest is 5'3". Saw one of the birds &? a good ways from nest. He flew from ground to small tree, sang once. Almost immediately the other bird came from the direction of the nest and joined him with trilling, at the base of a small bush. 7:30 A.M.
