Barks 1957 Zonotrichia leucophrys ? 16 Feb. 57 E end Lane Section 4th Field, on Barnstft, Berkeley One, possibly 2 birds bee. No singing. Center Section, Athletic Field, Barnstft, Berkeley. One very mild pair (ie, 2 birds) at lower end of this section. No song. Front of DeArt Annex, Campus, Berkeley A bird across walk from this building. 9 March 57 Med Bldg, Ellsworth + Desert Berkeley (S E corner) No birds singing here today (not heard last week). Saw nothing in several minute watch. Then saw 2 birds in tree on top of yellow house to S. of parking lot Flew immediately. Soon saw 2 in yard to E, which would be the backyard of a house on Channing. Did not investigate further. S.W. Corner Ellsworth + Barnst. W.of corner at first drive heard a bird giving loud alarm notes. He was in a Cedrus tree, growing out of group of junipers. Good nest area. He flew across road to N. into Thuja, then W. one lot + disappeared. No mate seen. 2309 Ellsworth + front of Epis. Church Heard a bird, saw it on S steps of church. Flew into shrubs at 2309, heard the chattering, begging call of fledg. One bird came out + fed(?) around lone rose bush at 2309. Other It seemed to be interested, or fiddling dead. The other one slightly in pulling grass. The other one appeared on the church steps & both flew slightly N. along front of church,
