Sanks 1957 Zonotrichia leucophrys 2 16 Feb. 1957 Med Bldg, Ellsworth Dana Barley. A bird singing in bushes here along Ellsworth, when he sang, frequently answered by one in the bldgs parking lot. Later we across the street by other med bldgs (on SW corner), possibly same kind. This one singing now in Acacia tree at front of Bldg. Believe those across the street was an echo, or reflection of this one's voice from the other building. I cannot see any & for this bird. Barcroft, lower part Edwards Field, St. plague Barley 2 (?) birds on column here. No singing. Only are in evidence most of time; that I saw two at first. One flew into field. In a minute heard call notes, one flew W. outside wall, sang. The song is weak, the last part fading away. Song is fast. Saw him on ground. He flew E, past me, to join another bird out top of wall & of E spine (still in wind of field). The other bird flew to the ground, then the singing one (but not singing now). A passerby moved them toward the bushes but evidently didn't scare them much. They fed for a couple minutes, moving by fast hops. Their heads so down and up repeatedly, probably are for each food bit or each try for food. They fed on grass and on sidewalk. A passerby chased them over the wall. This seems to be a pair, but no evidence of mating. No songs heard after the first few weeks ones.
