Banks 1952 Zosteropis lophotes 21. 19 Apr. Corner Barrow Lane + Bancroft - Pair of birds, ? [determined from later behavior] feeding on weeds, & feeding, then sang from Magnolia. ? flew part Magnolia to small Eucalyptus, & joined her. They copulated 4 times; after each copulation, dursty only a few seconds & flew to ground, returned immediately. Periods between copulations longer than during copulation, about twice as long. Barrow Lane opp Aden Blaf. This is a different pair than above. & singing from tree which held nest A. ?land & about 20 ft., joined by ?. 20 Apr. Bancroft along Ath Fd, Lower Sec, Nest B - The nest is partly torn out of the bush and all birds are gone. An adult chirped a few times nearby, but not anything like the excitement of previous days. App SE corner De Ant - White curion gathering nesting material. Attempted to pull shreds of bark from gathered large mouthful of coarse material from ground under Acacia, and other bushes. Several times flew into same place in bushes. I'll call this Nest E. 24 Apr. Found what is probably this nest today but it is inaccessible. Barrow Lane opp NE corner Aden Blaf - Bir, on with nesting material. She flew nuts Ceratops (?) on ground, for that patch of this blue flowered running vine shrub to the South.
