Banks P.C. 1956 2 Constructed burrows White Crowned Sparrow 19. 13 Apr. Bancroft along 6th Field Enter Sec. U-2 + U-3 watched these birds at pole panel 2 and between panels 2+3 for ½ h.±. U-3 chipped constantly, while feeding a while just settling, a very high, loud note. U-2 chipped occasionally, a much lower afternote. Believe U-3's 9', U-2 ♂. U-2 had food in mouth for long time, but would not go to nest. I looked in bushes for nest then went several yards away. U-3's became silent. Barrow Lake, opp Old Bldg. Nest A - Nest destroyed. Some grasses still in tree, some on ground. No sign of adult birds. Bancroft along 6th Field, Nest B - at 1745hrs. one egg had hatched. Nearly naked, pink skinned down on parts of body dried and sticking straight out. 14 Apr. - Now at 0815 all but one egg hatched. Trinity Church Parking Lot Nest D - these birds have left the nest at 08/5. Must have been done by, judging by the actions of the parents. 17 Apr. Bancroft along 6th Field, lower Sec., Nest D - Three young in nest - eyes not yet open. Feather tracts can be seen through skin. Conced up but did not make noise when I looked, then settled down. Did not move again when I touched nest.
