Zonotrichia leucophrys White Crowned Sparrow 4Apr. Frach Stadium, N.W. corner - In a spot here where vines grow up and cover the wall, a white crown nest with 3 young, maybe 3-4 days old. Down appearing over beaks. Gape bright red. outlined in yellow. Two seem bigger + more active than third. Eyes not open. Cold this morning. Those mother comes back to brood them soon. Both parents flew off N. Birds squeaking faintly. Barnett along Ath Field tower see, uppe part Still 4 eggs in this nest. & flew off nest at my approach, went to wall and trilled. 6Apr. NW corner Edwards Field Part C - Tried recording, not much luck. Still three young ones in this nest. Eyes are open. Bills are yellow on outside, red lined with yellow on inside (gape). Feather quills are through the skin. All seem at about same stage of development. Could hear young plainly 30ft. away when they fed. Adults were alert but made no disturbance when I was at nest. When I left, one bird appeared with food. Hopped around in vines several minutes before going to nest. Feather one say weakly and left. Those with food finally delivered, left again. The young remained quiet in the nest until I touched it, or put my hand above the nest where the feeding bird comes in. Even my head in that position didn't start them. Once the young birds started
