anks, R.C. 1956! White Crowned Sparrow 12. 21 Mar Barncroft along 4th Field Centre Section - A bird holding what may have been nesting material. It dropped it and disappeared in bush. Another bird sat on wall for several minutes. Very little activity here today. Barrow lane, E. Adm Block. - Three White Crows. One feeding in plant cover (weeds), others across big Univ. Perching in gutter. One in grass flew to tree, trilled frequently for several minutes. Barncroft E. of Barrow Lane V. side. One bird seen across street. Watched for 15 minutes, no sign of activity where I thought a nest was being built. 28 Mar Barncroft along 4th Field Centre Sec. 0630 One pair here, by 4+4+5+4 panels. Feeding in grass. Some trilling. Cannot see birds. No sign of nesting activity. 27 Mar Barrow lane, opp. Adm Block. - Nest Found nest in edge of line oak, Azures on slope, about 1 foot from ground, 8" from end of branch. No eggs. Nest complete or very nearly so. Description will follow when I am sure she won't desert. 28 Mar Barncroft along 4th Field Centre Sec. - M singing from top of wall, section (panel) 4, & feeding below him. She flew into bushes. He flew W to panel 1, joined by another bird (?). He returned, & trilled, copulation occurred twice in rapid succession, in bush. He mounted sideways. She had tail raised, wings fluttering. 4 Birds, at least 2 singing @, not at all territorial.
