Banks B.C. 1956 White Crowned Sparrow 5. 4 March Barncroft St by ath Field N of Ellsworth 2 Sparrows widely separated, q, I think at W end of strip, J, I think, about center. Both very shy neither singing. A little further E, a pair of White Crows. Feeding in grass with pair of Brown Jowels. This is almost to drive into ath Field. Another pair White Crowne right at corner of Barncroft + Dana. Barnwell Ave, opp 5 and Adl Bldg. One White Crown on hedge, sat very still ate something off a leaf. A bird (sq?) flew out of bush from behind me. The bird on hedge immediately began to trill, jumping wings up & down very rapidly. 7 March Corner Ellsworth & Channing, Berkeley Heard White Crown sing once about 7:20 PM after dark, about 10-12 feet up in a palm tree. 8 March Barncroft, along ath Field, lower part. Two birds feeding in type of Junipers. One flew across Barncroft, lit on house roof. (224). Other remained and fed. Flew from Junipers to lower shrub, called sharply 3 times. After a minute called one more. Silent for several minutes, no response to my squeaking. Center part same area - Three birds here. One flew into shrubbery, fought(?) with another, immediately flew out to cement wall where it started. One left in shrubbery chipped for several minutes, jerkin grass. Third bird trilled in bush under bird on wall. Bird sat on wall for few minutes, disappeared.
