S. side Mt. Russel, 1500 ft. Riverside Co. Calif.
Shot 2 birds in high grass and low sage,
at base of hill. In very rocky area. One I
watched on the ground at about 6 feet was
foraging in an open space between rocks.
The field marks are very distinct at this
range. Both birds too shot to put up.
One weighed 26.7 gm.
