saw bird with a 6"+ twig crosswise
in bill in horsechestnut outside MVZ. Sat
for a few minute + dropped twig, fluffed
feathers, sat then flew away.
8 April 1957
Steam E of Union, opp Fountain
d Brown towhee nest. Found this nest
the other day, recorded it tentatively as a
Song Sparrow (See Melospiza melodia this
locality, 5 April). Nest empty then. Now
I am 3 ft. from nest. Bird is sitting
on nest. The nest is in a brush thicket,
mostly Rubus. It is close
ground. Looks like large song sparrow
rest.

Nest empty today - no eggs. Nest not
disturbed otherwise.

For second time saw a bird with 1 of
the central rectrices (probably on right?) albis,
? May 1957
Several days after last obs., saw same
bird. It also has several white
flecks in its back. Saw it two
days in a row at close range.
