Spinus pinus
4 March NW Wheeley Hall, UC Campus - Some
20 of these birds feeding in low junipers
at corner of building. Very pretty.
They would sit on top of a branch, pick
things off bottom of it, stretching and
craning was very interesting. Yellow
wash along primaries very evident.
Some seemed to have dark faces; others
more or less same color as rest of head.
When disturbed flew as groups to Cedrus
across street to come Library.
9 March - SW lower Campus Cafeteria - Flock of
about 10 birds feeding in Junipers.
18 April - U.C. Campus, Berkeley - Small flock
seen feeding on (worm) Live Oak.
