Dendroica magnolia
13 June
Sweetwater
Just as we drove up and parked, I spotted a bird in the top of a pinyon. Ned & I both looked at it with binoculars, couldn't get positive identification but thought it was this species.
Ned shot at it with 410, must have wounded it. We chased it and I shot at it with .38 amp. It flew off and may have dropped into the stream, which is very swift. At any rate, search as we would, we couldn't find it.
This is the second record of this species from Nevada. Miller got one in the Grapevine Mts. on 14 June 1940.
