(457) Phaeoplectens 26 Jan. 1957 Tres Palmas, Vallecito Valley, 2000 ft., San Diego Co., Calif. a large group of these birds here in a very loose flock. Mostly looked like birds of the year, but a few ad. & + S. The call is very distinctive as they fly, as are the white wing patches. These birds didn't seem to be feeding, just flying around + sitting. Shot 2 young ones (Walt got an ad. S.). I put up 2, #163, 166. #166 had testes about 3mm. The other one was due by John Andries, #26, S, ad. plumage.
