Hylorchla ustulata U.C. Camps Berkeley Alameda C. Calif. 3 Nov. A bird outside MV2, in house bertnut on IV side of building was observed at least 3 times in flycatcher-like activity . At least once it flew out and up, at an angle of approx. 60° with horizontal and out about 20 ft. (or more) It caught a large insect (moth?) The other jumps were shorter and more nearly horizontal. Each time it returned to about the place it left. The first two flights were close (in time), the third some minutes late. After the third, a black Phoebe (Sayornis nigricans) replaced it in the tree. Whether it was chased I can not say. (See Bl. Phoebe, op.cit.). All this happened about 12:30 P.M.
