Banks 1957 Turdus migratorius 15 May W Gate of U.C. Campus, Berkeley. A pair Anolins very tyrannically guarding a nest, chasing even White Crowned Sparrows and House Finches from the area. 24 May Can see 2 well grown young sticking up on sides of nest. 23 May 2214 Haste St. Berkeley Alameda Co. Calif. Anolin (8?) sitting on roof next door. The bird was caroling, giving 3-5 short groups of notes, pausing before next song. Each time he say, at the beginning of each group of notes, his tail was de pressed slightly. He changed position several times, but the action was always similar - a lolling of the tail (actually a dipping) at each group of notes or 3-5 times a song. Most of the time his wings were not folded back but held partly open and a little drooped.
