Aphelona coerulescens 5. 18 Apr. 1957. Duodenum : Leaves gizzard far anteriorly on right side Runs posteriorly along gizzard, curves to left beneath gizzard, (i.e., posteric). Goes slightly to right of midline before turning dorsally and posteriorly into a section running anteriorly along descending loop, between liver (left) and gizzard. At top where it would run into liver, it turns dorsally again and descends as small intestine. On its first descending loop, the duodenum is thin walled but large in diameter. Spleen : absent. Pancreas : A two-parted structure, in the loop of the duodenum. One part lies on the right side, along body wall. It is 13.5 mm long, up to 5 mm thick, tapering to a point anteriorly, The other part is connected at the posterior end, near the descending loop, and runs anteriorly between the parts of the duodenum. It is very narrow, but fairly long ending at the level of the start of the duodenum. It measures 16 mm. Pancreas is attached to duodenum by a mesentery for most of its length, but I can find no ducts leading into duodenum. Outer part of pancreas has its anterior end at bottom of rt. lobe of liver. Small Intestine : At anterior end of second part, Duodenum turns dorsals (to the right), running along lower edge
