Put it in Formalin to use for dissection for ZOO-106 (Corp. Anat.) project. Wt. 94.7 gm. Dissected this bird 27 April. Washed it in water to remove formalin. P.F. Cut skin from neck to vent on ventral surface, cut the sternum and breast muscles, then peritoneum so to have clear view of entire digestive tract. Removed left lung and heart, broke trachea at fork into bronchi. Removed connective tissue around esophagus. First impression: Liver is small. Stomach (i.e. gizzard) is large, looks full and/or muscular. Removed several rematodes from neck region, outside of any tubes. Esophagus: Narrow from 8mm. at pharynx to 3 mm. for most of its length, comes left upon entering abdominal cavity. Inside: a series of longitudinal folds of gristle-like material. Four folds dorsally, for a file over rest of surface. No crop is present. Liver: Two very unequal lobes. Left lobe is small, triangular shaped. It lies mainly on left side of stomach, but extends a little past mid-ventral line to right. It is connected to stomach (proventriculus + gizzard) by a mesentery. This lobe hides proventriculus from ventral view. Right lobe is much longer. Extends Left lobe is much longer. Extends
