Banks P.C. 1956. Stellar's Jay Cyanwitta 1. 10 Feb. SW corner LSB - saw bird. 14 May Bear (E) of Menis Faculty Club. Two birds heard farther East. One flew into Sequoia, flew away with long piece of string. 19 Mar NW Women's Fac. Club, along creek. Both members of a pair are gathering pine nesting material (grass?) clay creek bank. Flew to Conifer N. J Fac. Club maybe beyond. When I got in position to watch they stopped, took another load as soon as I moved. I then saw one in Sequoia, one in Langel. Several more loads. One from by Menis Fac. club, with material went into Sequoia came back empty. 'T was maybe 30 ft up in the tree. 21 Mar N Conell Hoys - Bird flew into clump of bushes, sat on ground pecking at area of drift, bright red clay. It appeared to be eating. Thought at first he was digging grubs, but could find nothing but the clay. Flew off toward next area. Did not seem to be holding anything. 7 May Faculty Glade - One bird on lawn digging up x eating earthworms. Actions very similar to Robin, including hopping and turning head.
