Tyrannus verticalis 4 19 Apr. 2 1/2 mini W. Patterson, Stanislaus Co., Caly. Duodenum : Leaves gizzard and swings to right as it goes posterior, then sweeps left to mid-line on ventral surface of body. Makes a posterior-dorsal curve, and goes right, ascending medially (ie, halfway from ventral to dorsal) and runs along dorsal margin of right lobe of liver. At same level as top of gizzard, bends dorsal. Tied thread here. Small Intestine : Continues dorsally to body wall. Pancreas : In 2 parts, very much like Redwing. Small Intestine : Narrows abruptly before reaching dorsal body wall. Appears to narrow, but really is just folded or smacked- possibly end of some food. At the same time it goes dorsal it goes medial, then at mid-dorsal line turns posterior to near end of body cavity. Turns ventral a short ways, then anterior, then a sharp turn to right posterior beside itself. In another sharp loop it turns dorsal behind (from my view) itself + goes anteriorly to a place dorsal of beginning of st. Then swings ventral, follows loop of duodenum around loop and ascends between "" and gizzard. Passes dorsal to first part of duodenum, and extends dorsally to body wall. Makes a sharp angle here, and in a wide sweeping loop to
