Banks 1956 Balansphyra formicoria acorn woodpecker Dec.1, 1956 Approx 5mi. S. Woodland, Co. Calif. D.O.R. in good shape. Stuffed it in the evening froze it next evening put it up 7 Dec. Very tight skin! Cut the neck, altho I guess this isn't necessary. Q molting, some feathers fell out very small + no death. Skull was only partially a layer, dont half way. Very poor skin! 1957 6 May 1957 MVZ Noticed in the collection an allinistic acorn woodpecker collected by Lory Miller in San Diego Co. All normally black areas are dark brown. Look like an extremely faded or bleached bird.
