Buteo jamaicensis Feb. 1, 1957 Berkeley Alameda Co. Calif. Van Medina answered a call to MV2 + picked up this adult red-tail which was found dead at 2411 Hillside Ave., SE of the stadium by Mr. Hall. The bird had been seen the day before flying. It had evidently starved to death as it was very emaciated! I was unable to weigh it. The right hind toe (F) had a large growth on it which apparently kept it from using that food - the cause of starvation? There were some pellets in the throat, but they were not saved. The bird was a ♀, not in breeding condition. Skin 174, turned out very well.
