Journal 2.1mi WNW Stenerville (Post Office) 1150+/-T, Jefferson Co, Ohio. Dec. 24, 1957 Had 2 mice in traps. One had left hind foot gone and was skinned (by a shrew) on one shoulder. This one was caught in a hollow tree. Late traps in this tree failed to get either another mouse or the shrew. The skin was fixed up and is 265. The other was near a bunch of logs + stumps, and had part of the tail missing. It is # 264. Picked up the traps in A.M. Dec. 25-27, 1957 Visited Newark Ohio. Took trip to Brushyge Lake but didn't see anything. Dec. 27, 1957 302 Wilma Ave. Stenerville, Jefferson Co, Ohio. Did set 15 traps around yard. Caught a short-tailed shrew near the rock pile. Dec. 28, 1957 Jefferson Lake area, Jefferson Co, Ohio This is the day of the Forest Audubon Club's annual Xmas Bird count. Dad (G.S. Banks), At Johnson, and I were in this area. We were out from about 0800 to about 1700. We counted approx. 10 miles. A warm day, but dark and cloudy. Other areas were covered by Tamely, Bailey, Munson, + E.Famer. Our species seen were: Zimius polyglottos (in yard at home), Cijanonta crinitata, Sturnus vulgaris, Passer domesticus, Melospiza melodia, Junco hyemalis, Corvus brachyrhynchos, Colinus virginianus, Loxia migratoria, Richmondena cardinalis, Panus cardiensis, Wendropes pulersens Spizella arborea, Parus bicolor, Eremophila alpestris,
