Crocher Camp, mi N. Redmouth,
ft. Plumas & Calif.
Arrived here about noon Fri., and it shortly
began to rain. Went deer hunting on Crocher
Mtn. I got clean to the top, 7400+ ft., lots
of deer sign. Ralph Pratt + Vic Larrin saw
a doe fawn, I saw a doe + 2 fawns. Hunted
till dark, got caught in rain. Hunted for
owls in evening, nothing. Saw a poor-will.
Sat. AM. it was almost clearing. Vic set
gopher traps, Ralph & I hunted. Saw a doe.
An awful lot of sign of deer everywhere
here. About noon shot a White-headed
Woodpecker, later a Stellar Jay. Ralph
shot a Pinyon jay out of a flock of 25-30
that flew past camp. It began to rain
again about 1PM. rained pretty hard
till 2:36 (Present time of writing.) Earlier, I
shot a Brown Cooper and 2 Mt. Bluebirds.
See next page for list of birds. Saw a rabbit.
Later it began to rain again, and
rained pretty constantly all evening
and all Sat. night. Sunday morning
we broke camp and left about 9A.M.
Drove back the Feather River valley, got
home about 3:30 PM.
