Journal 29. 13 June Enroute from Queen Canyon to Sweetwater Wts. Drove back to Berton, across to beginning, up to Bridgeport, turned off toward Sweetwater. Birds seen enroute: Western Gull, BB Magpie, Shrike, Barn Swallow, Cliff sparrow, Swallow, Spotted Sandpiper, Red-winged Blackbird, Nightjars. Turned off road to Sweetwater, on dirt road leading to Sweetwater Canyon. This area is very heavy good Pinon. It was nearly dark when we set up camp at a ford. The stream is a rushing torrent. Just as I parked my spotted what was probably a Magnolia Warbler, both shot it and missed, or only wounded it. See species account. After dark wandered hunting owls for a while, no luck. I shot at a Pion will just as it left its perch + of course missed. Sat around campfire & wrote notes all night, 14 June North of Sweetwater Canyon, Lyon Co., Nev. Started hunting about 0630. I went up the creek a good way, following the Aspen, Cottonwood + willows on one side, pinon on the other side of me. Late I turned south and worked some pinon ridges. There was not much bird life either place. The pinon in this area is very good pretty thick, some very big trees. Not much juniper in it. The birds I saw were: Green-tailed Towhee, Cassin Finch, Pine Siskin, Western Pe Wee,
