Eggers, Lone Beche Canyon, 1200 ft. San Diego Cliff.
his home brew. Mr. Egger gave us the run
of the place - anything goes. He had to leave
to return to town, but said to stay as long
as we want and come back anytime.
a very hospitable gentleman. We
settled down and finished a few left over
shing. This canyon is a very narrow
rocky canyon, sparsely vegetated with
sage and Ocotillo (
).
Also some cactus around. There are quite
a number of cabins in the area - evidently
weekend cabins or vacation camps. The
canyon runs about SW-NE. In the wash
where there is (probably) occasionally some
water there are some mosquitoes. Right
away we saw some hummingbirds, (sp?),
Philin, Sialis mexicana, and Phainopepla
nitens. The weather today is very nice -
warm when the sun shines but cool when
it goes behind clouds. We will stay here
several days. About 1 P.M. shot a Rendovia
anduloni and an Sporomis tolnei out of a
cottonwood tree. On main road about
1/2 mi. NW of Lone Beche Canyon, shot a
Sage thrasher. Put it up later, while others
set traps.
Set traps.

Checked traps here this morning. John & I
had, out of about 100 traps, 6 Peromyscus (2 sp)
1 Neotoma, 1 Cerecuthus. Walt had nothing
in steel traps. Charlie had 6 Peromyscus. Then
we checked desert traps, had 1 Diposlongs. Went
to La Palma for morning.
