Banks 1456 Journal Coral Hollow, Alameda, Calif. 200+ ft. 30 Oct. Inakes las, Arteresia, a yellow flowered lark, and a ford-smelly the flowered are. In evening went into Livermore. Saw Dipodomys on road in two places. One place set 4 rat traps. Next place set 3 traps. This one ran into a hole in the road bank, and while we were standing there, it came out, ran between Charlie's feet and stopped. He grabbed, it ran, I grabbed, it got away. Set one trap at entrance to hole it entered. Collected 2 toads (in Alameda Co.) Got a deer in headlights. It saw its shadow, had its back turned, and was very confused. We coasted very close to it before it ran. On way back from Livermore saw a striped skunk. Just as we went to bed heard a lawn owl. Lots of jack rabbits. 21 Oct. Up at 6:30. Heard Stummella neglecta at 0600, checked 7 traps along road. (From the one by the hole we took a Dipodomys on our way back from town.) Nothing. Checked main body of traps, Charlie had 1 Dipodomys, 1 Perognathus inornatus, 1 Peromyscus maniculatus, I had 1 Peromyscus maniculatus, 1 Perognathus inornatus, 1 Perognathus californicus. After breakfast we went down the road into San Joaquin Co. about .5 mile. Walked up a draw on North side road. Saw flock of Bomophila alpestris, collected 1, saw Sayonis sayas and Pooh kra lark - elevation about 850+.
