Banks 1956 Journal 38. Black Hills, 2.6 mi N Orinda Village 1000+ ft. Contra Costa Co. Calif. 14 July. Saw 2 jack rabbits, Bites [illegible], nothing unusual. Checked traps again about 7:30 PM, had T. edinium near but not in, a mus. sp. all others empty and unsprung. Got a glimpse of what might have been a Sceloporus. 15 July In the AM had 2 Vistoma junipes, one a small one (yug) & , and one Peromyscus ?. Also 1 Thyromanes leniciii. In PM had nothing, saw a Sceloporus. Picked up traps in PM. Saw Cales cafer and Zanaidna . Many juncos in fields below the area, as well as goldfinches. 1150 ft. Mulholland Hill 2.1 mi E, 1.1 mi S. Orinda, Contra Costa Co. Calif. 28 July Set 10 live traps, 10 mus. sp. in grass + thistles along W. side of Donald Rd., 3 if mus. sp. were in Baccharis or E. side fence. Bait: grain + walnut. 29 July Had 1 & Resthryodontops in snap trap in grass. Had 1 ? Perognathus, 1? Phomys in snap traps in Baccharis (2/3 tree), had 1 ? Peromyscus maniculatus and 1 ? P.M. in live traps. Put them in with my male (Thamnophilis).
